Contributing to Biodiversity with Reeformers
At GIIAS 2024, your presence plays a crucial role in supporting the adopted coral bed in the Manado seas, managed in collaboration with Reeformers. This coral bed is home to Barney (Tridacna gigas), one of the protected giant clam species in Indonesia. Since being planted by Mercedes-Benz in 2023, Barney has thrived within a vibrant coral colony, thanks to the dedicated care of Reeformers. Today, this coral reef not only houses the beautiful Barney but also various other marine species, playing a crucial role in enhancing the local sea ecosystem’s biodiversity.
About the Artwork: RAKSANA: PROTECTION by Mira Hoeng
For this special collaboration, Mira Hoeng proudly presents “Raksana: Protection.” This watercolor painting is inspired by coral and its underwater botanical garden. Coral represents the beauty of imperfection, fertility, spiritual awakening, and transformation, with the end result being immeasurable joy. Coral provides protection to the ocean from harmful pollution, symbolizing that coral offers protection and healing, especially from negative energy and emotions. Nowadays, it is known to attract prosperity, love, and inner peace. Through these amazing qualities of coral, it is hoped that this artwork reminds people to experience transformation in their journey to becoming their better selves, away from danger, and protected by this colorful coral. Now, it is time for us to protect coral as an endangered entity in the ocean.
