Rafael participated in the SDGs Annual Conference 2022

Reeformers, an NGO dedicated to marine conservation, coral reef transplantation, and eco-tourism, has been actively working towards preserving marine life since its establishment in December 2021.

Coral reefs, vital oxygen producers in the ocean, play a critical role in marine ecosystems. Coastal communities, reliant on the ocean for their livelihoods, depend on the health of these ecosystems.

Coral transplantation serves as a means to construct new marine ecosystems, boost fish biodiversity, and contribute to the well-being of coastal communities. One of Rafael’s primary Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), as a passionate advocate for sustainable development, is economic growth (SDG-8), given its potential for creating a positive social impact. For instance, eco-dive trips not only protect the sea but also benefit the surrounding communities.

Reeformers has conducted extensive research, revealing that coral reefs serve a dual purpose, benefiting both underwater ecosystems and humans. As Rafael noted, “Seventy percent of the Earth’s oxygen is produced from the sea. Healthy coral reefs are essential for a thriving ocean ecosystem. With coral transplants, we foster a new marine ecosystem,” as reported by manadopost.com.

Rafael aspires to expand his international network and secure funding or partnerships from organizations like UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and the United Nations, furthering the mission of Reeformers.
